I migrated the server for Background Pi to Thinis recently and shutdown the web server after making the user statistics available on this site. I am not sure yet if I still want to compile the digits of Pi into a file, maybe after some more people run it. It seems to be hit or miss on whether people are; I will try to keep it operation as long as people occasionally do. I know of at least one person that it inspired to go into computing, I would like to think it still has that capability.
I’ve done it. I bit the bullet and switched to Wordpress. After lugging along phpBB for many years now and struggling to keep it up to date, I decided I needed a CMS and after years of trying many and failing repeatedly I finally got Wordpress to an acceptable point. The old site is still available at http://thebes.codingwell.net/ for now. This new site is powered by Dreamhost, it doesn’t seem the fastest for running wordpress, but my guess is that it isn’t their fault.
